Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art that focuses on leverage, technique, and control. It teaches how to defend, subdue, or escape from an opponent using joint locks, chokes, and ground positioning — ideal for self-defence and functional fitness.

Not at all. Our classes are beginner-friendly and open to all levels. Our instructors will guide you through the basics and help you build skill and confidence at your own pace.

For Gi classes, you’ll need to bring your own Gi (uniform), as we currently do not sell or provide them.
For No-Gi classes, wear fitted gym clothing like rash guards and shorts or leggings — avoid zips, pockets, or loose items.

No! Jiu-Jitsu will help you develop strength, mobility, and endurance over time. You just need a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Yes — safety is our priority. All sessions are supervised by experienced coaches who foster a respectful and controlled training environment.

Sparring is optional and only encouraged when you’re ready. You can observe or drill until you feel confident to take part.

We recommend 1–2 sessions a week for beginners, then gradually increasing based on your goals and recovery.

Please check with your doctor first. Let your instructor know before class — we’ll work with you to adapt where needed.

We offer structured classes for:

  • Juniors (ages 7–10)

  • Teens (ages 11–16)
    Each group follows an age-appropriate curriculum with a focus on skill, confidence, and respect.

At this time, we do not offer full kids memberships. Classes are booked individually at our standard class rate. However, we do offer discounted class packages, and we’re exploring the introduction of kids memberships in the future if demand grows.

Kids and teens classes are charged at our standard class rate, with multi-class packages available at a slightly reduced rate. Please check our app or speak with reception for current pricing.

Yes — a parent or legal guardian must complete a waiver before any child participates. This can be done via our Crowns Gym app under the child’s account.

For Juniors: No sparring in early sessions — the focus is on coordination, discipline, and learning the fundamentals.
For Teens: Light, fully supervised sparring may be introduced as students develop technique and confidence.

Yes, all classes are inclusive and welcoming to all students. We foster a safe, supportive, and respectful training environment.

Yes — all instructors are fully qualified, DBS-checked, and trained to work with young people in a safe and engaging way.
